Boxed in: Nursery of Naughtiness answer the questions (free mix inside!)

Leeds' finest Prodigyesque duo return in our regular Q&A for upcoming breakbeat jocks, and they've brought a super-crazy mix with them to promote their forthcoming live gig at the UK's Glade festival, featuring more than 30 tracks in under half an hour. Where are you now and what are you doing?

We are just sat down chilling and snooping around Facebook.

What was the best gig you played in the last six months?

Best gig was actually the Friday just gone, which was at Carry on in Manchester supporting Elite Force. Firstly the guys who run the night are the nicest people ever and the whole process of soundchecking and setting up was easy and put us in relaxed mood. Finally, the people there were all on it. It was good to know we can keep the same energy on the dance floor as DJs. Plus we got paid, which doesn’t happen sometimes.

What's the most embarrassing thing you've ever done in a DJ booth?

Well, we have only being playing live sets so far as N.o.N, but we have some DJ dates coming up, so I'm sure we will do something embarrassing in the booth. Live-wise, I wouldn’t call it embarrassing, more really stupid. Basically the night before one gig we stayed up, got no sleep, spent loads of money, went to go to the gig next night and realised we'd lost our laptop, searched around for ages, couldn’t find it, had to cancel the gig and I had to live with the fact I'd just lost over a grand's worth of equipment - and a really good soundcard - for being really stupid. There was a lesson in there somewhere and we're starting to learn it.

What are the top three tracks in your record box right now?

Nursery of Naughtiness - Ruff Necks (only heard by us but is gonna be on the album. It's the best tune on there, heavy as fook, dirty with some wicked vocals by Phorse), Reso – Metal Slug (really well produced dubstep) and Proxy – Dance in Dark (we love Proxy, it's heavy, dark and dirty … perfect.

Complete the sentence: "Women respond to ..."

Loud noises.

What tune would you never play, no matter how desperate?

We could name tons of them but better not. so one which we would never play would be Angels by Deekline and Wizard. We like some of their stuff, but that tune is just the type of vibe we're not into at all.

If you could warm up for any DJ in the world, who would it be, and why?

DJ-wise we're not that arsed, but Jay Cunning would be our main choice as we love his sets and he's supported us loads. Bandwise it would have to be Prodigy or Nine Inch Nails.

The crowd is flagging and you need an emergency tune to stop them all going to the bar. What would it be?

Autobotz & Screwface - Apocalypse

Vinyl or CD decks?
We use both, and Ableton, so both have their positives and negatives.

Stone cold sober or elegantly wasted?
Elegantly wasted is the ideal, but it's normally wasted in the trashiest sense of the word.

Plump DJs or Stanton Warriors?

Definitely the Plumps.

What would you have been doing now if you had not been answering thisisbreaks.com's questions?

Chilling and snooping around Facebook.

Where do you see yourself in six months time?

Well we will be living in London by then, hopefully have the album out and have more live and DJ gigs lined up. Basically surviving and hopefully being commissioned to do a remix for really big pop stars who throw loads money around - especially in our direction.
