Everyone at Dead Famous, the main label I record for, was stoked to be nominated for best label. It’s been a monumental 12 months with some quality releases from loads of wicked producers, old and new. I know I speak for the owners, Jamie and Steve Robosapiens, when I say this is pretty much entirely down to our label manager – Ian (Daniella Downs) who has poured his heart and soul into Dead Famous this past year – so big thanks go out to him.
Speaking of the label, I’ve just finished my contribution to the forthcoming remix LP. This is my take on Acid Reign by the Robosapiens, which originally came out on the now (sadly) defunct Sinister records:
The LP is gonna be a major release, designed to turn a few heads – I’ve heard most of the remixes and they’re pretty nuts – we’ve got some wicked artists involved; Kultur & Colombo, Myagi, Perpetual Present, Cole & McCurry, Home Alone and more. If you head over to the newly renovated Dead Famous MySpace page you’ll catch a sneak preview of a couple of the tracks – release date is sometime next month I believe.
I’m staring out the window whilst writing this and it’s a lovely spring day which has reminded me it’s time to start thinking about festival season. For me, festivals are what dance music is all about – the only places I can think of where utterly random behaviour seems to make perfect sense, there are positive vibes on tap and, of course, amazing music nearly 24/7. I plan to cram in a fair few this year: so far I’ve got BLOC, Sonar and Glade on my list – I’ll hopefully be playing at a few too. Let's hope for some decent sunshine this summer so we can make use of those stupid festival hats that we’re all gonna buy, yeah?
