Future Funk Squad series really has been one of the most gratifying things we've done on thisisbreaks.com so far. The album Disorders of Skill, which went on sale Friday, is already out of stock at En:vision Records, such has been the enormous demand. We like to think we've played a small part in its success. This really is one of the coolest albums ever to hit the breaks scene, so we're well chuffed for Future Funk Squad's own Glen Nichols.
Hopefully this can be the start of the scene beginning to realise that when you put out something truly breaky, without a single nod to commercialism or the housier side of things, the fans lap it up as something genuine and uncompromising. This is the music we have all been waiting for for a very long time.
Today's is our penultimate track preview - we'll have the final three tomorrow - and includes a clip of the next single, the barnstorming Blow. Over to Glen to explain how the tracks came about ...
Track eight: Alien
Glen writes: Another kind of interlude thing (well a bit longer, more of a short track). This has a kind of eerie extraterrestrial feel (well to me!) hence the title. I think this would sound pretty good in a game or crime movie. It also slots nicely in between Isolate and the next grimey track that's about to drop ...
Track nine: Bring This On featuring Mojo
Glen writes: The second instalment from Mojo and my first ever 'clubstep' track! I call it that as it goes from the verse being dubstep-ish to a chorus which is a rolling breaks club banger; almost tear out but without the carnival riffs. This is pretty simple but I really like what Mojo has written and as always his delivery and lyrics are second to none.
Disorders of Skill is out now. Purchase it before Monday and you'll get a free download featuring 11 unreleased and exclusive bootlegs of the likes of Orbital and Lamb.
Click here to purchase (there might be a week's delay before it arrives as the CD is currently being restocked due to demand. And check back here tomorrow for more tracks from the album.
