If you're looking for a party this weekend in the UK and you're not going to the TCR BBQ - and you like breaks, which we presume you do if you're checking this site out - then something must have gone drastically wrong in your life. This annual event has been a mainstay of the scene for the past seven years, and is famous for the extraordinary level of carnage which goes on. Kicking off in the afternoon on Saturday, it runs all the way until 3am, by which time vast quantities of alcohol have been consumed, and incredibly, no one has actually fallen off the balcony.
There's also the music to be enjoyed. Recent years have seen a distinct paucity of breakbeats at what is supposed to be one of the top dates on the scene's calendar, so let's hope the 2009 lineup puts that right. We're particularly looking forward to catching
B.L.I.M., an artist who's disappeared a little bit over the past year, but who has been responsible for a number of tracks that, for us, sit in the all-time breakbeat top 10 12"s. In particular, if he should choose to drop his own earth-shattering remix of Blame's Music Takes You, it's probably a good idea to get out of thisisbreaks.com's way if you're in between us and the dancefloor. Or on it, for that matter.
It all takes place at the Lockside Lounge in Camden, London, and the rest of the lineup is below. To celebrate, TCR head honcho and scene founder Rennie Pilgrem has dropped this wicked mix to whet your appetite.
